OCP weekly Announcements!

Here are this week's announcements--  note that slichot start tomorrow night at 12:30 am!

Freshmen Dinner at the Friedmans' after davening.
10:30pm - Oneg Luau @ 202 41st Street

Shabbat:
9:00am - Shacharit followed by Kiddush at around 11
4:30pm - Torah Hora
5:40pm - Chaburahs!
6:45pm - Mincha followed by Seudah Shlishit
7:55pm - Maariv, end of shabbat
12:30pm - Rav Mordy is speaking, followed by Slichot on 3rd floor of Hillel


Freshmen Dinner
All freshmen are welcome to come to dinner tonight at the Friedmans, 4008 Chestnut St.  There will be an informal walking group leaving after davening.
Torah Hora
your weekly dose of shabbat afternoon learning in the beit midrash is back!  come learn with your friends, and grab some refreshments as well.

1 - Tzedek chessed opportunities
Come learn about all the exciting Tzedek opportunities offered this year at the ice cream social on Tuesday night at 8:00 PM in the Berkowitz Living Room! Projects include Soup Kitchen, Focus First, Bikur Cholim, Alternate Spring Break, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and more

2- Yom Kippur Food Drive
Help feed hungry families in Philadelphia! Hillel's Tzedek will be sponsoring a Yom Kippur Food Drive to help feed needy Jewish families in Philadelphia. Donation boxes will be outside of Hillel in the coming weeks - but start collecting cans of kosher food now! Try to pick up an extra can next time you're in the supermarket... it's a small contribution that can go a long way. More information coming soon. Any questions? 3 - Mash/Eruv Training
The community is always in need of students to check the eruv and keep the kitchen kosher.  This week we are offering 1 hour commitment-free training sessions for each.  Try it out- what do you have to lose?

Modern Jewish Intellectual and Cultural History
Professor David Ruderman teaches in this fall a survey course on Modern Jewish Intellectual and Cultural History (HIST 380). The course considers the Jewish enlightenment, Reform, Conservative and Neo-Orthodox Judaism, Zionist and Jewish Socialist thought, as well as Jewish thought in the 20th century, particularly in the context of the Holocaust. No previous background is required. Professor Ruderman is an amazing teacher and this course is highly recommended for anyone who is interested in learning about the contours of Modern Jewish History from a world-class expert.
